Medal of Honor Recipient Brick Dedication

Lewisburg, Pennsylvania — The Union County Veterans Foundation was established in 2001, to recognize and honor veterans who served in World War II. The original monument was a wooden structure located in downtown Lewisburg. Time and weather caused damage to the original, and it was taken down and disposed of.

Since that time, a fund was established to underwrite the new World War II Honor Roll Monument, which was erected in the Mifflinburg Community Park in 2003, with the dedication ceremony held on November 8. The monument honors WW II veterans from Union County.

- There are 2,260 names of men and women from Union County on the Honor Roll.
- 59 of those honored paid the supreme sacrifice.
- One Medal of Honor recipient, George H. Ramer, was awarded posthumously.

Two additional monuments were added in May 2006: in honor and memory of men and women of the Korean War and in honor and memory of men and women of the Vietnam War.
